Sankofa is the name of a bird found in African mythology which symbolizes the eternal cycle of experience born from nature. In Ghana’s Twi language; Sankofa evokes the sense of “There is nothing wrong in returning towards what you’ve lived through” and provokes a rising desire to “get back, seek and find”. Sankofa is a bird, that never keeps its egg apart during its eternal journey. As the starting point of all experience, this egg forms the origin of life, it is the most virginal and fragile piece of life.Thus, it is as heavy and precious as the entire life experience. Sankofa accumulates patience, tenderness and intelligence in order to keep its unique egg unbroken for its whole life.

Gana’nın Twi dilindeki anlamıyla Sankofa, “YaÅŸanmışlıklarına geri dönmekte yanlış bir ÅŸey yoktur” deyiÅŸine çaÄŸrışım yapıyor ve ‘geri dön, bak, ara ve bul’ anlamına geliyor. Sankofa, çıkmış olduÄŸu sonsuz yolculukta yumurtasını asla yanından ayırmayan bir kuÅŸ.
